CORTANA NOT WORKING: HERE ARE FIXES

 Cortana is one of Microsoft’s most popular virtual assistants, which comes in-built in Windows 10 system. But some Cortana users are complaining that they are facing an issue when they say “Hey Cortana,” it is not responding. Also, it is missing from the taskbar, and Cortana reminders are not operating as well. If you would like to solve this issue, then here are some points mentioned below:

Restart the Windows 10

Usually, a reboot can repair many system woes. Once prevent the Cortana from working on the system, attempt to reboot the Windows 10 system and attempt Cortana once again to check whether it operates. 

Check the Region and Language Settings

To check the region and language settings, follow these directions mentioned below:

1. Hold the Win and I hotkeys simultaneously on the keyboard to open the Settings application.
2. You should click on the ‘Time & language’ option.
3. Then choose the ‘Region & language’ option.
4. Don’t forget to check the language and region are matched with yours.
5. Now, attempt Cortana once again to check whether it operates.

Check the Windows 10 PC is Updated

To check the Windows 10 PC is updated, follow these directions mentioned below:

1. Navigate to the Windows Search bar on your system.
2. Afterward, insert ‘update’ into it and hit the Enter key to open the Windows Update page.
3. Once you reach there, hit on the ‘Check for updates’ button over the screen’s upper side.
4. You should click on the ‘Check for updates’ button.
5. Later, install the applicable updates.
6. Finally, restart the Windows 10 system and attempt Cortana once again to check whether it operates.

Update the Microphone Driver and Audio Driver

This issue could also be due to the wrong and old audio driver or Microphone driver. You should update the drivers to fix this annoying issue. If you update the drivers, you should download the right newest ones from the system manufacturer site.

Reset the Cortana

To reset the Cortana, follow these directions mentioned below:

1. Navigate to the Cortana box on your system.
2. Then insert ‘Cortana’ into it and press the Enter button.
3. Once you see the results, click on the ‘Cortana & Search settings’ option.
4. You should hit the ‘On’ button in the ‘Hey Cortana’ section to disable it. You can then view the ‘Off’ status.
5. Thereafter, hit the exact button once again to enable the Cortana. You can then view the ‘On’ status once again.
6. Finally, attempt Cortana once again to check whether it operates.

Check the Firewall

To check the firewall, follow these directions mentioned below:

1. Navigate to the Windows Search section and input ‘firewall’ into it, and hit the Enter key.
2. Then launch the ‘Allow an app through Windows Firewall’ option.
3. Go to the ‘Allowed apps’ screen and click on the ‘Change settings’ option.
4. Later, find every Cortana function in the ‘Allowed apps and features’ section and mark each of them.
5. Finally, hit on the OK button and check whether Cortana is operating now.
