The Quickest Way to Get More Free Space in Gmail

If you are a Gmail user, you would know that Google provides 15GB of free storage in Gmail. And Google apps like Google Drive and Google Photos also utilize this free cloud storage. Today, you will learn how to find emails that have more Gmail space and how to delete them. If you are thinking of buying premium storage in Gmail, wait. First, try this method of finding and deleting emails, consuming more space.

Google provides premium storage space

You can see the used and unused storage in your Gmail account by visiting the Google One Storage page through this URL: https://one.google.com/storage. When you go to this page, you will see how much storage has been used by Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Drive, but you will not find any way to free up space. If you click on the Gmail section, you will be redirected to Gmail without any idea of finding and deleting emails, consuming more space. And as a result, you will have to delete emails one by one.

But what you will do if your Gmail account is loaded with thousands of emails. Obviously, you will delete one by one or leave them as it is. If you start deleting them, you may not free up more storage if you delete tiny emails.

Finally, you will think to buy premium storage from Google to get more space for storing all emails forever. Therefore, we are here to save your money on monthly bills.

Finding and deleting emails that consume large space in Gmail

Gmail doesn’t allow you to see the space used by each email thread. But you can search by email size using the Gmail search bar. Searching via the Gmail search bar for an email is a great way to find relevant emails based on the search query. Here is how to do it.

  • To do so, you have to search through the size operator available in the search bar.
  • Log in to your account and look at the search bar at the top location of the interface.
  • Look for the drop-down menu available in the search bar and hit on it.
  • Find the Size section and choose MB from MB, KB, and Bytes. Then fill in the size of the email thread, for example, 19MB, and decide the search date like one day, three days, one week, etc.
  • Also, select email search system from greater than and smaller than and then hit enter. Here we are using greater than from the two options.
  • As you hit the enter button, all emails greater than 19 MB will appear. Now you have emails with most space.

Alternatively, type size in the search bar and colon (:) next to it and then type the size of the email you want to search for, like 20MB: size:20MB. Then hit enter to see all emails with 20MB size.

After finding the emails with the most space, you have to delete them to free up storage. So, select all the emails you want to delete and hit the trash box icon. Now you have successfully deleted all the selected emails. Once you delete emails with more size, you will have more storage space.

An email gets heavy because of file attachments. Unluckily, you can’t delete file attachments from an email. If any email is important to you, it is good to forward it to yourself, and then you can remove the original one.
